Frequently Asked QuestionsWhat are cookies and why should I use them? When I try to access a web page my screen is blank. I'm having trouble staying logged on to the Modules?
I'm entering my correct user name and password, but I'm referred to a page that says that I do not have login privileges. Why can't I login? Answer: If you are using Internet Explorer 6 and your security measures are on Medium or higher, you need to lower your security settings. When you enter your user name and password, a cookie is automatically set which allows you to continue to navigate through the Reading instruction. Lowering your security settings so your browser will accept cookies will allow you to login successfully. See the questions and answers about cookies below.
What are cookies and why should I use them? Answer: A "Cookie" is an Internet term that refers to a packet of information that a host computer (in this case, our Web server) uses to identify a visiting computer (in this case, your computer). Each visiting computer is assigned unique identification information that allows us to allow you to navigate through the Reading instruction.
How do I enable my cookies? Answer: For Windows Internet Explorer 5 and 6: 1. In Internet Explorer,
click Internet Option on the Tools menu, and then click the Security tab. For Macintosh Internet Explorer: 1. In Internet Explorer,
click Preferences from the Edit menu. In Netscape Navigator: 1. In Netscape, click
Preferences from the Edit menu. If you cannot find cookie settings in any of these places: Please look up "cookies" under your browser’s "Help" menu or click the Questions link below to send our technical support an e-mail.
When I try to access a web page my screen is blank. Answer: This apprears to be a javascript error that occurs very infrequently. If you encounter this problem, logout, close and relaunch your browser, and try to login again. The page containing the javascript used to open the activity window probably did not load correctly. Restarting your browser will fix the problem. I'm having trouble staying logged into the Reading instruction. Answer: When you log into the Reading instruction, our system sets a cookie on your computer. Every time you try to visit one of our web pages, our system checks to make sure this cookie is present before the page is loaded. The only time the cookie is deleted is when you close your browser or click the logout button. Otherwise, once you log in, you should be able to visit any of the Reading instruction pages. If you are having trouble staying logged on, it is probably because the cookie is not staying set. Try closing your browser, relaunch, and login again. This should fix the problem. If it does not you may need to adjust your settings for accepting cookies.
